Based in Izmir, Turkey, Sinadika plays the old Greek-Turkish repertoire of pre-war Smyrna. Born of a multicultural society, this music has its roots in Byzantine, Ottoman and Western musical traditions, and was played in taverns at the end of the 19th century, giving rise to Rebetiko.
