Plouharnel - Circuit de Sainte Barbe

The village of Sainte-Barbe braves the ocean’s fury under the protection of its chapel. The facade of the chapel, built in the 16th century, is listed as a Historic Monument. It was the scene of a major event during the Revolution in Brittany: the landing of the émigrés, known as the “Quiberon Expedition,” in July 1775.

Starting point: Arhuro Parking Lot, across from the Général de Gaulle Parking Lot

From the Arhuro parking lot, across from the Général de Gaulle parking lot, head to the Préleran roundabout and turn left onto Rue Jean Rohu, then right onto Rue Jean-Pierre Calloc’h until you reach the Rondossec dolmens, visible on the left.

Turn left to continue on Hoche Street and take the path on the left. At the end of the path, turn right onto Rue du Pont Neuf and continue to the railroad tracks. Cross the tracks, then turn left onto Chemin de Lostiguen. After about 100 meters, take the path on the right (greenway).

Then, turn left toward the village of Sainte-Barbe via Route de Glévenay after the “No Camping or Caravanning” sign. Pass by the fountain and washhouse in Glévenay, turning right onto the grassy path. Cross the small footbridge and follow the dry-stone wall to rejoin the mill path. The old windmill (private property) is directly across from you; it offers a beautiful view of the dunes and the ocean. Turn left and continue along the path. Megaliths are hidden within the dry-stone walls.

At the Sainte-Barbe washhouse, take the path on the right toward the Sainte-Barbe Chapel. Cross the village along Rue de Ouarhé for about 100 meters, then turn left onto Rue du Kreisker. Continue to Rue de la Plage Saint-Barbe and turn right. At the intersection, continue straight ahead on Rue de Kernizan. At the end of the street, turn left onto the grassy rural path and continue straight ahead. At the next intersection, take the path on the right, then the one on the left.

Cross the D781 with caution to reach the village of Kergazec. At the intersection, turn right and continue along the path. As you leave the village, take the trail on the left to see the Kergazec dolmen, then retrace your steps and continue along the path on the left. Walk around the Saint-Antoine Chapel, cross the road, and take the path directly across from it. At the first intersection, continue straight ahead; at the next one, turn left and continue straight until you reach the pond. To reach the Mané Remor site, located at the highest point in the town, take the trail on the left facing the pond, then turn left at the Y-junction.

Retrace your steps, and as you leave the site, turn right. After the pond, take the path on the left, then the sunken path immediately to the right. Continue along this path: the stone alignments and the Vieux Moulin mound are on your left. At the intersection, take the path to the left of the house, then follow the sunken path along the road toward the Plouharnel train station.

Cross the railroad tracks, then turn left onto Rue Pierre-Marie Guézel. Continue along the road, then, at the curve, take the dirt path on the left. Next, turn right onto Route du Plasker, then right again toward Impasse du Plasker.

After passing the cemetery, head to the Océan roundabout and continue right to reach the Préleran roundabout, then the Arhuro parking lot.
