Chants libres" choir festival - "IN UNIONE ET PACE" concert

Basilique 9 Rue de Vannes
56400 Sainte-Anne-d'Auray
In Morbihan, the Chants libres 2026 program is run by the Maîtrise de Sainte-Anne-d'Auray.
The Maîtrise introduces children to music through choral singing. It comprises the Pré-maîtrise in elementary school, the Maîtrise in junior high school and the Ensemble vocal in high school. The choir stands out for its vocal excellence and the variety of its repertoire. It blends the great works of Western sacred music with those of contemporary musicians and traditional Breton pieces. Teaching focuses on singing and choral practice.
It is complemented by courses in musical training, vocal technique, music and art history, as well as original workshops (Gregorian chant, sound technique, Breton culture, etc.). Our teaching staff all hold degrees from Conservatoires à Rayonnement Régionaux, or French or European universities.
Over and above purely technical objectives, this program opens up cultural horizons for students. It also develops the ability to work as part of a team, and a certain comfort level through regular encounters with the public.
In 2015, the Maîtrise choirs premiered Richard Quesnel's cantata Promesa with an instrumental ensemble and the Maîtrise in Sainte-Anne-d'Auray (Festival Itinéraires en Morbihan, May 2015), Lorient (Festival Interceltique, August 2015) and Saint-Malo (Festival de musique sacrée, August 2015).
In November 2018, the choirs presented Johannes Brahms' German Requiem, and in May 2019 premiered an original work by Eric Tanguy (Miserere).
In 2025, the choirs took part in the world premiere of La Dame mystérieuse, an oratorio for Sainte-Anne-d'Auray, composed by Éric Tanguy to a libretto by
Philippe Le Guillou. The show, directed by Amélie Parias and conducted by Gilles Gérard, featured several soloists and the Orchestre National de Bretagne. It was performed at the Rennes Opera on June 6, and at the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-d'Auray on June 7, 2025.
The Maîtrise de Sainte-Anne-d'Auray choirs are winners of the Liliane Bettencourt prize for choral singing 2021.

Concert "IN UNIONE ET PACE" by the Nicolazic Choir of Sainte Anne d'Auray & the Agora Choir, Mickaël Gaborieau (great organ)
Repertoire: German music (Bach, Rheinberger)

This concert, "In Unione et Pace", takes place in an atmosphere of peace and serenity, around the (Great) Mass in F minor for choir and organ by Joseph Rheinberger (1839-1901). The majestic choral polyphony is underscored by the organ's complicit accompaniment.
This project is the result of a year's work by two amateur choirs who have been meeting over the months to rehearse this choral work.
