Art in the chapels

Since its creation in 1992, L'art dans les chapelles has invited over 500 national and international artists to work in these remarkable heritage sites, most of which were built between the 15th and 16th centuries.

Each work is specifically designed to be shown in the chapel assigned to the artist. A production budget is made available to each artist to create an original work in situ.

Whether these works are based on the architectural qualities of the site, or play with the spaces and the light that pass through them, they are always conceived with the idea of confronting the artist's point of view with the place that houses his or her work. This event offers the opportunity to establish strong links between contemporary artistic creation and an exceptional heritage.

Signposted circuits lead you on a journey that links the landscape to the chapel, contemporary painting to polychrome painting, religious architecture to contemporary sculpture.

A double invitation to discover the creations of our time and to take a fresh look at our heritage.
