Environmental Commitments
The Quiberon Bay destination is constantly working to reduce its environmental footprint. As part of this effort, we are committed to implementing various initiatives on a daily basis, which we outline here.
Website
Studio Juillet, the agency responsible for developing and maintaining our website, confirms that several eco-design best practices are already in place:
- Screen-size-responsive images: Images are automatically generated in multiple formats when uploaded so that each device (mobile, tablet, computer) downloads only the version suited to its resolution.
- Lazy loading of images: Images located outside the visible area of the screen are loaded only when the user scrolls to view them, thereby reducing data transfer during the initial page load.
- Resource caching: Resources that have already been downloaded are stored on the user’s device to avoid repeated downloads during subsequent visits.
- Preloading critical resources: Certain essential resources (particularly fonts) are preloaded to optimize display time and make page loading smoother.
- Text file compression: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other text-based resources are automatically compressed on the server side to reduce their file size and the volume of data transferred.
These optimizations represent a first step toward eco-design. As part of a continuous improvement process, the Tourist Office is committed to continuing to assess the environmental impact of its website in order to reduce its ecological footprint and improve the site’s EcoIndex score: 24/100 (Class F).
