A self-taught painter, Frédéric Laboria draws his inspiration from the maritime world.
Originally from Versailles but Breton at heart, he has made the sea his favorite domain, tirelessly exploring its shores, ports, shipyards, and beaches at low tide.
His artistic approach is rooted in a quest for authenticity and presence. He paints en plein air, as close as possible to his subjects, in order to capture the shifting light, contrasts, movements, and the very essence of these places. Starting out as a watercolorist and pastel artist, he naturally turned to oil painting.
Whether he depicts a sailboat, a quiet harbor, or a maritime cemetery, his intention remains the same: to evoke emotion and offer a sensitive perspective on the intimate relationship between humanity and the sea.
His work has received numerous accolades.
