Two Painters, Two Perspectives, a Shared Love of Travel
The Musée des Thoniers brings together Olga Kataeva-Rochford and Régis de Martrin-Donos, two artists whose artistic worlds converge around travel, the sea, and landscape.
For Olga Kataeva-Rochford, the sea becomes a realm of dreams and freedom. Boats, horizons, and landscapes are transformed under her brush into poetic, sometimes mysterious images, where reality seems to gently shift toward the imaginary.
Régis de Martrin-Donos, Official Painter of the Navy, paints as closely as possible to the landscape, directly from life. From Brittany to the Mediterranean, his travels offer him the opportunity to capture the light, the atmosphere, and the silent presence of these places.
Two sensibilities, two ways of looking at the world, but a single invitation: to take the time to look, to travel… and to dream.
