Play: She's No Princess, He's No Hero
Everyone tells us their story, each in their own way. Leïli loves high-top hiking boots, competition-style K-Way jackets, Eastpak bags, and “let’s roll, girl.” Nils, on the other hand, loves small things—small animals, small crumbs, small stories—but he’d rather not say so. Above all, there are “so many loving things” he’d like to say to Leïli, but he’s afraid she’ll think it’s sappy. Intended for both adults and children, the story explores gender stereotypes and the search for identity. We deconstruct both small and large clichés and allow ourselves—by simply being ourselves, neither princess nor superhero—to reflect on the roles assigned to boys and girls.
