Everyone tells us their story, each in their own way. Leïli loves high-top hiking boots, competition-style K-Way jackets, Eastpak bags, and “roll on, girl.” Nils, on the other hand, loves small things, small animals, small crumbs, and small stories—but he’d rather not say so. Above all, there are “so many loving things” he’d like to say to Leïli, but he’s afraid she’ll think it’s sappy. Intended for both adults and children, the story explores gender stereotypes and the search for identity. It deconstructs clichés—both big and small—and encourages us to be ourselves—neither princesses nor superheroes—while reflecting on the roles assigned to boys and girls.
