A loose adaptation of Serge KRIBUS’s text, “Clara Haskil: Prelude and Fugue.”
A play paying tribute to pianist Clara Haskil, born in 1895 in Bucharest and who died in 1960 at the Gare du Midi in Brussels. A child prodigy, at age 3 she was already reproducing the melodies her pianist mother played for her. She was soon separated from her family to study piano in Vienna and then in Paris. Of fragile health but with a strong character, and doubting her talents as a performer until the end of her life, Clara did not achieve international fame until she was 55 years old. On stage, there is a complete union between the actress—who plays all the roles—and the pianist, who is intimately linked to Clara’s tumultuous life story.
