The Mekong River flows for 4,350 km and crosses six countries. The film traces twenty years of change in the cities and communities living along its banks: Tibetan salt flats, Angkor, Phnom Penh, dragon boat races, the home of Marguerite Duras’s lover, Ho Chi Minh City at Christmas… Amid unchanging traditions, modernization, and the legacy of explorers, this is a journey along a legendary river that has witnessed the upheavals of a rapidly changing world.
