Exhibition - Western France and the United States of America: Perspectives from Both Sides, 250 Stories and Friendships
250 years ago... Benjamin Franklin in Auray
Did you know that the fate of a young nation born in 1776 was also shaped on the coasts of Brittany, in the Atlantic ports, and in the countryside of western France?
To mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, this exhibition highlights the shared history between the United States and the regions of Brittany, Normandy, and the Pays de la Loire. It traces two and a half centuries of an enduring friendship whose deep—and sometimes little-known—roots still resonate today.
This exhibition is the result of an initiative by the U.S. Consulate for Western France, carried out in collaboration with four students from the “Les Amériques” Master’s program at the University of Rennes 2.
