All against Caesar
The AFC Vénète invites you to step back in time and spend a few hours in the Celtic era of the 1st century BC, thanks to two exceptional historical reconstruction films and a book.
- La Bataille des Vénètes" film, 10mn
Directed by Gallien Chanalet-Quercy, in 2015 in Erdeven (Kerhillio) for the re-enactment of the Battle of the Venetes, and shown at Le Ker in Vannes, was awarded first prize for 3D short film at the Advanced Imaging Society Lumière Creative Awards in Hollywood, and won a prize at the 3DKIFF Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
- Film "Le Pacte Gaulois", 30mn
Directed by Seb Duhem, this film has won several archaeology awards, and the soundtrack by Julian Cuvilliez won a prize at London's Screen Power Film Festival for music, sets and costumes.
- Book "Enora, fille-druide vénète", by Jean-Loup Princelle, Éditions Yoran Embanner
In this historical novel, the author responds to Caesar's texts. Between the Proconsul and the young Celtic woman, an epic duel is brought to a close, one that saw the fate of the whole of Celticia at stake. The story opens with the defeat of Alesia, as Enora, taken away as a slave, carries with her a secret mission, entrusted to her by the most powerful and mysterious of Druidic authorities. As Caesar's army heads back to Rome, she is unaware that she is leading a secret agent to her target, whose action will be decisive for the survival of the Celts.
Jean-Loup Princelle will be on hand to talk about his work and answer your questions.
Our other guests, the Teuta Osismi, will be delighted to talk about their work in historical re-enactment.
