Breton polyphony in Etel
As part of the restoration of the beautiful fresco created by Xavier de Langlais in 1958 at the back of the choir in Etel church, undertaken by the association "Sauvons la fresque d'Etel", the two choirs KANERIEN SANT MERYN directed by Jean-Yves Le Ven and CHOEUR AN ALRE directed by the young conductor Angéline Johnston will present their repertoire of Breton and Celtic songs in the Breton language.
The two vocal ensembles boast a repertoire of sacred and secular polyphonic songs, both traditional and contemporary, paying tribute to the Breton composers and songwriters who have contributed to the development of the Breton musical heritage, often based on Barzaz Breiz and oral tradition. They also perform contemporary creations, always harmonized for four voices, and covers of Celtic songs transposed into the Breton language.
The concert will be introduced by Ronan Sylvestre on bagpipes.
The Breton hymn BRO GOZH will be sung at the end of the concert by the two choirs in a version harmonized by Jean-Yves Le Ven.
