Conference: "Erdeven, the story of a beach where no nuclear power plant was built".

Office de tourisme d'Erdeven 12 Rue des Menhirs
56410 Erdeven
Author and historian Dominique Baudel presents a fascinating lecture on the little-known history of Erdeven's beaches, and more specifically on the mobilization against the Kérouriec nuclear power plant project in 1974-1975.

Based on the testimonies of those involved at the time, and on in-depth archival work, this meeting traces a brief but significant citizens' movement, whose memory risks fading with time. In the course of his research, the historian broadens the subject to tell the story of the evolution of the Kérouriec and Kerhillio beaches, revealing profound social transformations.

The birth of the beach as a place of leisure, the arrival of naturism, the rise of camping, the democratization of the automobile and electricity: these are just some of the changes that have shaped Erdeven's coastal and tourist identity. A conference to better understand the history of these familiar landscapes, beyond the anecdotes, and take another look at the coastline today.
