On June 1, the Salle Émeraude will vibrate to the sound of gospel, with an exceptional concert organized in support of the restoration work at
of the Saint-Goal church in Locoal.
Anne Sorgues and Gospel Morbihan will be on stage at Emeraude on June 1st. This event, proposed by the commune, represents a wonderful opportunity to combine music, solidarity and preservation of the local heritage, as the funds raised
of the Saint-Goal church.
Preservation work at Locoal church
A first campaign of emergency work was carried out by the commune from 2022 to preserve the church and halt the most critical degradations, noted in a study from 2016 to 2017. Roofing and masonry work have stabilized the edifice and limited the progression of structural disorders. Now it's time for phase 2. The wooden and slate bell tower, a rare feature in the region, presents worrying vulnerabilities. The unstable structure of the bell tower has meant that the bells have not been rung since 2023.
As a result, further work is planned, including the removal and inspection of the bell tower structure, the replacement of damaged parts, and the repair of the bell shades and top.
By taking part in this concert, you'll be helping to preserve the heritage of the LocoAlomendonnais region.
So come one, come all!
Please note that it will soon be possible to make donations to the Fondation du patrimoine to help finance the work.
