Guiana, a nugget in the Amazon

A historical, cultural and touristic journey to discover the places where Amerindians, Hmongs, Creoles, legionnaires, bushinengues, convicts' descendants or engineers at the space center, garimpeiros in a gold mine or teachers from mainland France lived.
It's a real journey back in time: the first natives, colonization, slavery, the gold rush, the creation of the convict camp and the European space base are all elements that have marked the history of this region.
The backdrop for this expedition is the immense equatorial forest, with its unique ecosystem, and the many rivers that criss-cross it. For Guiana is a land of contrasts: many communities maintain their traditional way of life, while living in this small piece of Europe lost in the Amazon, and indeed one of the richest regions in South America.
