SNT: Eric Tabarly and his Pen Duick
Film & Conference Orlabay
Event description:
Orlabay, in partnership with SNT and the Eric Tabarly Association, is delighted to invite you to a Film-Debate-Conference on "Erik Tabarly et ses Pen Duick" on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 6:00 pm at La Vigie, hosted by Gérard Petipas, accompanied by François Jousselin.
La Trinité sur Mer has long been the birthplace of Eric Tabarly's Pen Duick yachts, in particular the Pen Duick 1, a magnificent family yacht over a century old that Tabarly restored with his own hands at the now-defunct Chantier Costantini, as well as the Pen Duick II with which he won the 1964 Transat ahead of the previously unbeatable English.
Tabarly was a visionary, the father of a thousand and one performance-enhancing inventions such as aluminum hulls, ballast tanks, spinnaker socks, foils, etc...
6 of his boats bear the Pen Duick name. Unable to finance the next one himself, the one that should have been Pen Duick VII was named Paul Ricard. It was with this foiling trimaran that he smashed the 75-year-old record for crossing the Atlantic under sail.
