Son et Lumière "1625... The mystery of Saint Anne" "

In the open-air theater of Pont Er Groah in Sainte-Anne d'Auray, more than 130 actors and extras in period costumes, with farm animals, horses, carts and carriages, in the reconstructed village of Ker Anna in the 17th century (Anne's village in Breton) will tell you the story of Yvon Nicolazic and Pierre de Kériolet, which will leave an indelible mark on people's minds and places.... To Yvon Nicolazic, a humble Breton peasant, appeared Saint Anne (mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus), holding a torch in her hand. She led him to the Bocéno field and asked him to rebuild an ancient chapel dedicated to her, as she said: "God wants me to be honored in this place" (the chapel that in 1872 became the present-day Basilica of Sainte-Anne d'Auray, a pilgrimage site dear to the hearts of the Breton people). Pierre de Kériolet, a contemporary of Yvon Nicolazic whose alleged mission he openly mocked, was nicknamed the "devil of Kerlois", was devoted to Satan and led a dissolute life. He was "miraculously converted" in 1635 during the exorcisms performed on the possessed women of Loudun, where Cardinal de Richelieu had launched a dark witch-hunt. He was later ordained a priest and became an ardent defender of the poor. Today, Yvon Nicolazic and Pierre de Kériolet rest in peace, one opposite the other, in the present-day Basilica of Sainte-Anne d'Auray. Relive this mystery with the witnesses, confessors and first pilgrims of the time... right up to the tribute paid by the Queen of England and the official commemorative visit by Pope John Paul II in 1996. 1h30 of great entertainment, a moving historical Son et Lumière for adults and children, in the 1000-seat tiered open-air theater of Pont Er Groah (see access map).
