In the heart of a remarkable natural site, the largest dune site in Brittany, you have an appointment with the history of the Second World War in Morbihan.

Welcomed and guided by volunteers from the Bunkers Mémoire de Guerre association, you'll learn about the tragic history of this emblematic site of the Lorient Pocket in our 39-45 Bunker Museum, through a series of scenographies:

- the construction of the Bégo Heavy Coastal Battery by the Todt Organization ;

- life under the Occupation, the Resistance ;

- the building of the Atlantic Wall and Marshal Rommel's inspection in April 1944;

- the surrender of the Lorient pocket and the Liberation.

The Museum is also the starting point for a "Chemin de mémoire" (Memory Trail) and an immersive 2? hour guided tour through the storied remains of the Atlantic Wall:

- Discover the heavy coastal battery organization that protected Lorient harbor and Admiral Dönitz's U-Boats

- Explore characteristic bunkers such as the Bunker SK (Sonder Konstruktion) Puit, the emblematic Observation Tower, a barracks with murals, etc.

- Presentation of the impressive Saint-Chamond Model 1912 340mm cannon, one of the last surviving examples and model of those deployed on the Bégo site.

Open in July and August:

- Museum "Bunker 39-45": Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. non-stop, ticket €5/person, free for children under 12. Open to all.
