Documentary Film: Antarctica

Salle Le Mousker 7 rue Jean-François Gouzer
56470 Saint-Philibert
Screening of the film *Antarctica: At the Ends of the Earth*, with director Luc Dénoyer in attendance

Antarctica, a continent so distant, so extreme, and yet the setting for some of humanity’s greatest adventures.
The first explorers recounted their extraordinary expeditions—ones that only the imagination can truly picture. All were driven by a quest for achievement and the discovery of the unknown. It is the same magnetic pull that scientists and tourists feel today, whether on a cruise or during a wintering season.
Through their encounters, we catch a glimpse of the indescribable: life on a vast, frozen continent where extremes coexist. This inhospitable land pushes humanity beyond its physical and psychological limits, while offering daily wonders. It also promises new scientific discoveries that will lead to a better understanding of this pristine and fragile land… so that we may better protect it.

Luc Dénoyer is an author, filmmaker, and lecturer. He first discovered the Arctic in 1985 and has returned there regularly ever since. Along with a group of polar travel guides, he helped found the travel agency Grand Nord Grand Large. A tireless long-distance traveler, he has brought back numerous photos and films from his trips around the world, which he presents at lectures and exhibitions.
