Documentary Film - Nemchou: Freedom Within Reach
Nemchou tells the story of six deafblind people hiking through the Tunisian desert for nine days, accompanied by volunteers. Walking with a determined and suddenly liberated stride, each person takes advantage of this unique and surprising adventure to speak about the deafblindness they experience. A slow immersion into an unknown world—that of the desert sand with its ever-changing landscapes, and that of the inner lives of people who sometimes walk without seeing, without hearing, or with only limited ability to do so.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Gérald Serrault, and various participants in the film, including deafblind hikers and other contributors.
