Escales Photos, the Mor Braz Festival

Le Bourg
56740 Locmariaquer
Large-format exhibitions

Since 2013, the Mor Braz Festival has been showcasing photo essays in six towns in the Quiberon Bay area: Locmariaquer, Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, Arzon, Plouharnel, Le Palais (Belle-Île-en-Mer), and Houat.

To mark the 200th anniversary of photography in France, Escales Photos is showcasing monochrome expressions of the photographic gaze on Brittany.
This edition presents a dialogue between memory and contemporary creation through the works of two leading figures in Breton photography, Pierre Jamet and Michel Thersiquel, and those of four contemporary photographers: Serge Picard, Irène Jonas, Mickaël Pouliquen, and Yoann Segalen.

Pierre Jamet and Michel Thersiquel were privileged witnesses to 20th-century Brittany. Their images depict a region deeply rooted in its traditions, while also capturing the transformations of Breton society over time. Like Proust’s madeleines, their photographs evoke a collective memory that is still very much alive. This exhibition is on view in Locmariaquer.

As it does every year, the festival also features a selection of notable exhibitions from previous editions:
In Locmariaquer, Gregg Segal’s “Daily Bread” is on display: an exploration of children’s eating habits around the world.

A free cultural event open to all.
