Romeo and Juliet, by Shakespeare
The comedy-drama “Romeo and Juliet,” performed by the Clairs-Obscurs theater company and directed by Claire Giacometti.
In this story, the Capulet and Montague families are locked in a long-standing feud. Juliet, a Capulet, and Romeo, a Montague, meet by chance and fall madly in love.
But Juliet is betrothed to Count Paris. With the help of Laurence, Romeo’s confidant, and Agnes, Juliet’s nurse, the young lovers marry in secret. The tragic death of Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, forces Romeo into exile… The scheme devised to reunite them leads to a dramatic conclusion.
The understated staging allows the audience to appreciate the beauty of the text and the actors’ performances, all enhanced by a rock soundtrack.
