Notre-Dame de Gornévec chapel

Village de Gornévec
56400 Plumergat
The chapel is believed to have been built in the 11th century by the monks of Saint-Gildas de Rhuys, who owned property and land in the village. The site was still thriving in the 19th century, frequented by wet nurses who came here to pray for abundant milk.

In the 20th century, the roof collapsed and the chapel fell into ruin. It was rebuilt in the 1990's thanks to a local initiative. The choir and transept bays were once again fitted with stained-glass windows.

The sablières, like the eaves on the outside, are sculpted with fantastic characters and animals.

Open weekends and public holidays the rest of the year.
