Saint Quirin Chapel

Village De St Guerin
56400 Brech
Dating from the 17th century, the chapel contains what is considered to be the finest classical altarpiece in Morbihan. Constructed in tufa and Maine marble, this masterpiece, listed as a Monument Historique, is attributed to the masters of Lavallois. The chapel is placed under the patronage of Saint Quirin, said to be a martyred bishop. The site is a typical Breton sanctuary and a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Ste-Anne d'Auray. In the past, the chapel and its fountain in particular were very popular. A rare document known as the "cahier des miracles de saint Quirin" attests to the sanctuary's popularity. In this register, pilgrims recorded the fulfillment of their wishes, mainly cures. Open Tuesdays, 2.30 pm - 6.30 pm, from 7/07 to 25/08 (with reception), and daily from 1/06 to 20/09, 10 am - 6 pm, and during the Christmas vacations. 4th Sunday in July.
